Education
2008: MSc Computer Science, Pattern Recognition, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Alexandria, Egypt. Thesis title “Document Clustering using Graph-based Growing Hierarchal Self-Organizing Map (G-GHSOM)”. The research project was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Yasser El-Sonbaty and Dr. Mahmoud Hussin.
2004: BSc Computer Science, the Islamic University of Gaza, Gaza, Palestine.
2000: General Secondary School Certificate, Science division, Khan Younis, Gaza, Palestine.
Research interests
The main focus of my research work is in the area of document clustering, where text documents can be automatically sorted into groups of similar subjects. The idea of my MSc research project was based on the use of the graph model to represent documents and on the Growing Hierarchal Self-Organizing Map to classify them into groups in order to achieve a reliable grouping system. The theoretical basis of my research and its application have been described in detail in a paper which was accepted for presentation at an international conference (see publication list).
Current Research Work
My current research work is in the area of data warehousing clustering and advice system, where each row in data warehousing can be automatically grouped into groups of similar rows where each row contains the information about a graduate student. The goal of this work is to sort similar students in distinct groups and then analyze the results to study the effect of different operators (e.g. age, type of certificate, HSS) on the final results of the students. Another objective of this project is to use this data warehousing approach to design the advice system to every new student. The main idea of this research work is based on the use of the graph model to represent rows and on the Growing Hierarchal Self-Organizing Map to cluster them into groups in order to achieve a reliable grouping system. This research project is being carried out in collaboration with Dr. Mahmoud Hussin, Ehab Yaqot, Eng. Mohamad Saleh from the department of computer engineering at the University of Alexandria, Egypt
